About the founder
Shepherd’s Heart was founded by Lawrence Kai after receiving inspiration to do so walking the Camino de Santiago. During this pilgrimage, he felt called to pour the shepherd’s heart of Jesus into resources with a special focus on seekers entering the Church. This call built upon years of walking with new Catholics through RCIA, Alpha, and other parish initiatives.
Lawrence’s background includes over 20 years experience in pastoral ministry, teaching, art and creative communication. It gives him great delight to share the richness of the Catholic faith in ways that feel welcoming and relevant today. He loves unveiling the beauty and richness of our ancient faith for modern times. He especially loves the rich depository of the church’s many saints.
About the logo
There are four key symbols in the Shepherd’s Heart logo. The distinct heart shape is actually comprised of a shepherd’s crook on the right, and a rose on the left. The shepherd’s crook honours Christ who is the exemplar Shepherd. The rose pays tribute to both the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Thérèse of Lisieux, chosen as the patron saints of Shepherd’s Heart. Their presence and intercession have been especially meaningful in the founder’s own spiritual journey, including the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage where the inspiration for Shepherd’s Heart was planted.
